Sharon Winter
For Sharon Winter, painting is about imagination. Figures appear in landscapes inspired by dreams, memories and imagery evoked by reading or hearing stories.
Sharon says: "I love colour, people, gold and medieval art, particularly the depictions found in illustrated manuscripts, where everyday life mingles with abstract decorative backgrounds and embellishments.
In working on the paintings for this exhibition I decided to make my own journal to record ( in a small way) some of my thought process. Although my paintings may begin with a particular story, I have not set out to create illustrations, and I hope that the viewer will bring to them their own narrative - and most of all enjoy them."
