‘Take Two’: Gillian Martin and Lindsey Tyson (18th February - 29th April 2023)
Gallery Forty-Nine’s new exhibition ‘Take Two’ features original paintings and giclée prints by Gillian Martin and Lindsey Tyson.
Lindsey and Gillian have been good friends for several years, and both artists live and work in Scarborough. "Although our work is very different in style and subject matter, we thought it would be great to show together at Gallery Forty-Nine,” says Gillian. “We have enjoyed planning this exhibition, at such a nice location."
‘Take Two’ will run at Gallery Forty-Nine until Saturday 29th April 2023.

Gillian Martin
Gillian Martin is based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Working primarily in Photoshop, Gillian describes her illustration style as mid-century modern, stylized and bold.
Strongly influenced by the art and design of the mid-century, she uses a limited colour palette, adding 'offset' textures and colour to achieve a printed look.
Gillian's distinctive designs and artworks can be found in outlets around the UK and further afield in the form of greetings cards, prints, book illustrations and giftware. She produces her own range of giclee prints for sale through galleries and her online shop.
Lindsey Tyson
Driven by process and experimentation, Lindsey Tyson’s work is bold, spontaneous, and expressive. As a versatile artist, you will find a range of styles and techniques in her repertoire.
Lindsey’s paintings are predominantly abstract, with figurative elements. They are for the most part inspired by Scarborough and the North Yorkshire landscape where she was brought up and now resides, as well as the moorland landscape around Haworth, West Yorkshire.
Inspired by wild weather, big skies, and nature – as well as pattern and form – Lindsey's work is dynamic and full of energy.
