LIMITED EDITION PRINTS
David Hockney was born in Bradford in 1937. He attended Bradford Grammar, Bradford School of Art and the Royal College of Art. His paintings attracted national interest whilst he was still a student. He had his first solo exhibition in 1963, and the same year moved to the USA, settling in California. His iconic painting 'A Bigger Splash' sold at auction in 2006 for 2.6 million, and was the most famous example of his fascination with surface pattern and light.
Over the years, he has experimented with photography, photo-collage and prints made on a photocopier. His interest in the recent development of 'painting' with the brushes application on his iPhone and iPad are very well publicised.
In recent years, he has moved back to East Yorkshire - an area he knows well from childhood days - painting extensively the surrounding countryside, producing with great effect its unique colour, beauty and contours of nature. David has recently received the joint accolades of being voted our 'Greatest Living Painter', and the Order of the Garter.
The collection of Grimm's Fairy Tale prints we have available coincides with his 'A Bigger Picture' exhibition at the Royal Academy. We have both signed and unsigned prints available as well as two of the etchings made of his dogs Stanley and Boodgie in 1998. The latter are in a limited edition of 35. We also have framed and unframed poster prints from his East Yorkshire series.
